Barry Hinchliff

I started painting when I left Chelsea school of art in the mid 50’s. Like many of my contemporaries I spent years teaching art to children and adults. I exhibited in various art galleries during the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. I visited southern France in the 90’s and began painting French landscapes and had an oil painting accepted for the Royal Academy summer exhibition and this led to invitations to exhibit in galleries in Bristol, London, Harrogate, and Lincoln. The watercolours done on location inform my oil paintings but over the years the two media work together and inform each other. The Mediterranean light and textures are still my principal source of subject matter.
