Sheila Marlborough

Sheila attended part-time courses at Brighton Polytechnic and St Ives School of Painting and has had many years of experience, having painted since being a member of an art group in her teens.

Highlights have been to win the Royal Watercolour Society Award in the C21 Open Exhibition at the Bankside Gallery in 2002 and of having work shown frequently with the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours at the Mall Galleries, over a period of ten years.  During this time she was teaching art to adult education students and also exhibiting work in Sussex and Cornwall.

She was elected President of the Sussex Watercolour Society from 2005--2014 and for six years was a member of Chalk Gallery, an artist led gallery in Lewes.

She paints in acrylic and mixed watermedia and most of her semi-abstract work originates from imagination, memories of landscape and still life. She is more interested in composition, shapes, colour, and the activity of painting, and trying to achieve an individual and simplified interpretation of the subject.
